The DNR changed the venue after several dozen residents were turned away (including me) during the spring 2009 Conservation Congress meeting that was held in Sayner. Frustration over hunting and snowmobiling seasons overlapping fueled much of the 2009 discussion. Now with the deer herd overstated, Governor vetoing to retain ability to choose DNR Secretary, let's see how the 2010 meeting goes:

ST. GERMAIN – By strong public request, this year’s Vilas County Fish and Wildlife Spring Hearings and Annual Conservation Congress meeting is moving to larger quarters at the St. Germain Elementary School on STH 70. The old meeting place was too small for the growing crowd of people attending this annual event.
The spring hearings will be held this year on April 12 at 7 p.m.. The annual hearings give sports men and women an opportunity to provide input on potential fishing, hunting, trapping rules and other outdoor recreation activities in Wisconsin. Annual congress meetings, held after the DNR’s rules hearings, give people a chance to comment on congress proposals and recommendations. In addition, people in attendance elect representatives to the congress, which advises the state Natural Resources Board. For more information go to
